I couldn’t rally and get
there Tuesday evening, but the run went on. Thanks to Laurel for stepping up to
guide you after her full day’s work in Rec Sports (and a fuller day of
motherhood).
She tells me some of you
did bonus distance today, as far as 2.7 miles. Blame me for not giving her
clear directions to give you. Next week you’ll get to step BACK in distance, to
2.5 miles.
Beth’s earlier run
reminded me of something I meant to tell you all. If you can’t come to class,
which she couldn’t today, try to run the same distance at another time – which
she did and Ben will do.
TUESDAY’S RUNS
(with your actual distance, if checked, and
per-mile pace)
Joyce – 2.25M in 39:24
(17:30 pace)
Ashley – 2.7M in 27:57
(10:21 pace)
Beth – earlier ran 30:30
(13:33 pace)
Malisa – 2.5M in 39:42

Anne – 2.7M in 29:01
(10:44 pace)
Will – 2.7M in 24:22

LESSON 10: Dressing Down
When discussing
running clothing, we’re really talking about the weather: how to find
protection from it and comfort in it at the extremes of temperature and precipitation.
Observe the 20-degree rule, which states that during a run the temperature will
feel 20 degrees warmer than it is. Dress for a warmer day than the temperature
shows, or dress in layers that can be discarded as you warm up. Choose fabrics
that don’t soak up sweat – or rain. On truly cold days cover the hands and
ears, and you’ll feel warmer all over. Wear a cap with a brim to protect from
sun and rain, or to keep headlights from blinding you.
Hope you're feeling better soon!
